riddle me this

I go into a "seat yourself" restaurnt that has 20 tables. There's 2 people dining seperatly so I go to the far corner to be alone. Those 2 people leave and 2 couples come in. Where do they sit? To the left and right of me.

Why would they do this? There are 19 other tables to choose from, why break my little bubble?
