Wednesday was my first day UTAing (undergrad TA) for bio lab and we were just getting started when Professor Tsipis ran in and yelled at everyone to leave what they were doing and get out of the building. Apparently someone threatened to bomb the science complex and the heller school. Both areas were evacuated immediately (and that's a lot of people...) and all classes in both academic areas were cancelled for the rest of the day. Later that day, after I got out of dance class at 5, I got a phone call saying that all the CAs were having emergency staff meetings IMMEDIATELY. That can never mean anything good...I got back to East and Megan (our quad director) told us that the campus was going on lockdown until further notice. There were over 15 police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, etc at the main entrance stopping all traffic and monitoring the situation. No one was allowed to come onto campus or leave. All the dining halls were closed and all evening activities were cancelled. We were all told to go tell our respective halls to stay in the building and stay away from the academic areas. Now nothing this serious has ever happened at brandeis as far as I know, so this was pretty big stuff. I guess it was because of the new Bin Laden threat that everything was being taken very seriously. Can't blame them...
The lockdown was lifted a few hours later and life continued as though nothing happened. That is what amuses me about brandeis. Everything seems so safe and secure, then something like this happens and things get chaotic, and when it is over, it's all safe and secure again...and I felt it too. Once the lockdown was lifted, i was like "oh...ok." and watched an episode of 'friends' and all of 'Mean Girls.' It was one of the more interesting and scary things that happened here.
I locked myself out again yesterday, oh well. Oh and I went to Suzuki, did two squats (just two) and nearly died of pain...I really need to get into shape.
I was thinking to myself..."remember how I said I was going to take 3.5 classes and maybe TA bio lab this semester?" then I realized that I'm taking 5.5 classes and TAing 2 sections of bio lab- monday and wednesday, and have to do next week's lab every friday...I somehow manage to do that to myself every single time....oi.
In other news, I'm going to go watch 'Miracle' tonight probably and head out to a couple of parties or something. the end. oh and have to do lots of work tooooo...
