This was originally posted to my personal journal, but i thought it related to the topic of this community so i figured I'd post it here too.

I just finished Prozac Nation so I decided to check my Amazon.com reccomendations to see if anything sounded interesting. It looked like a summer reading list for a suicidal 16 year old girl. Slyvia Plath, more Slyvia Plath, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, Elizabeth Wurtzel, even more Slyvia Plath, Skin Game (apparently a book about cutting oneself), The Catcher and the Rye ( I didn't even like that book), and some Poppy Z. Brite thrown in for good measure. Chirst, I'm looking for something to read, not slit my wrists too. And what's with Elizabeth Wurtzel anyway. I mean I thought Prozac Nation was a good book that provided some real insights on depression. But C'mon, she writes a memoir of her battle with depression and then 10 years later writes another memoir about her drug addiction. I mean just how interesting does she think her life is? She's suppose to be a journalist and critic...can't she come up with anything else to write about except herself. I mean she evens strikes a pose on the covers of her own books. for someone with so many problems she sure has a high opinion of herself.
