Hi, I know you posted this a couple months ago but I just wanted to say thank you for listing Elizabeth Ruths Ten Good Seconds of Silence!! Upon reading this I went to the library and checked it out and it was such a brilliantly beautiful book, I just fell in love with it. So I'm grateful to you for helping me find it. ^_____^

aw that just made my day!! i'm glad you enjoyed the book so much. it's rare to find a book that is partially set in a mental hospital yet holds such hope. i've written to the author just as a thank-you - she's so nice. aw i'm so happy you liked it! i assume you read Francesca Lia Block's books as well? ;) i can't wait to read her new book! ♥

yay! I'm glad I made someones day. ^_____^

That's really neat that you wrote to her! I should do that one of these days, I never write to authors I greatly admire and I really should! I was surprised that I hadn't heard of Elizabeth before, her being my fellow Canadian and all!! I usually make great effors to be aware of all the amazing artists up here, I must be slipping in my old age LOL! It was especially neat reading ten seconds because she set a great deal of the story very near to where I live! So it was quite exciting being able to picture it exactly. =D

Yuppers! haha my name lj name always gives away. ;D I'm a GREAT adorer of FLB, she's one of my top ten favorite authors. =) =) =)

do you live in BC? i read Ten Good Seconds a few years ago, and if my memory serves me right i think part of it was based in victoria. i'm canadian too, i live in london ontario which is a few hours away from Toronto. it's so neat when writers write about familiar places. ♥

Yup! I'm from BC! Oh cool you're also muh fellow Canadian!! ;D I checked out your user info to see where you hailed from but it didn't say so I just assumed you were American, I apologize!! lol! ;D

close! most of it was actually set in Vancouver. although Lilith does mention visiting Vancouver Island and Victoria with her parents. I live on Van Island in a town called Campbell River, the salmon capital of the world!! hahaha. =)

i've always dreamed of visiting Vancouver Island. my two most favourite books are set there. i have family that live in White Rock, BC that i've visited, but i've seen little else there. salmon capital of the world?!?! cool! i love salmon. :) haha. my city is the canadian tornado capital, though i've never seen one. *knock on wood*

Aww well I hope you do get a chance to come over here and visit the island!

Having lived off of the island for a few years, I can honestly say that it is definitly one of the nicer places to live in B.C. =)

Ooo! what are the names of your favourite books set here? I'd love to hear any recommendations you have for novels, seeing as I so very much loved the first one! ^___^

well, "Awake and Dreaming" by Kit Pearson was my first 'favourite' book. i discovered it in grade five and i've read it over 15 times, i bet. so you might find it a little too easy to read or something, but yeah, it's set in Vancouver and Victoria.

"The Torn Skirt" by Rebecca Godfrey is the second book that stole my heart. it's quite different from Ten Good Seconds but is amazing nonetheless. it's fierce and brave and rebellious. :)

Oh no worries, I love easy reads. Sometimes they're just what you need. Bitchin'. I'll add both to my colossal and forever more growing "to read" list LOL. ;)

Hmmmm...well I can't think of any other books similiar to Ten Seconds, which I think is one of the reason I loved it so much, there's no other like it! But other books, hmm...well I just read Neil Gaimans Stardust which was a very delightful, funny and cute little read. What else.....Green Angel by Alice Hoffman is another that I really enjoyed, it's a neat and beautiful little book. I'll have to try and think of some more for you. =)
