So, apparently I am one of the few people who liked this movie. And while, granted, I don't think it was the most amazing piece of cinema to hit theaters, I still thought it was pretty freaking awesome.
But anyway, even though nothing was ever explicitly stated about it, I felt that there was tons of raw chemistry between Michael and Charlie. So even it's all in my head I thought they would be AMAZING together, so here's my little bit of wishful thinking ... I mean, what? After the movie they totally got together... umm... yeah...
1. Bad moon rising - Rasputina
[Charlie]

There's a bad moon on the rise
First there was the insane woman, and then the locusts. Charlie could tell that things were going wrong even before the mysterious man in the LAPD car full of weapons showed up.
2. Dear sons and daughters of hungry ghosts - Wolf Parade
[Michael]
I got a hand
So I got a fist
So I got a plan
It's the best that I can do
Now we'll say it's in God's hands
But God doesn't always have the best goddamn plans, does he?
Michael defied God and his fellow angels to protect the human race, and to save the waitress at any cost.
3. I don’t have a God - Robots in Disguise
[Charlie]

it's a faithless world and I need saving

it's a messed up world and I've got cravings
She never put much credence in God, and Charlie feels like she's been skating through life directionless. First when her father left, and then being raised by her single mother, till now, pregnant with a child from a man who is long gone and working at a diner in the middle of nowhere. But this was all fairly standard, until everything suddenly started to, literally, go to Hell around her.
4. Butterflies and Hurricanes - Muse
[Michael]

Fights and battles have begun
Revenge will surely come
Your hard times are ahead
Best, you've got to be the best
You've got to change the world
And use this chance to be heard
Your time is now
This simple human girl is carrying the only hope for humanity inside her. Even if she doesn't want to believe it, her entire life has changed. And the fate of the world is hanging on the people trapped inside the diner.
5. Rabbit Heart (Raise it up) - Florence and the Machine
[Charlie]
I wish that I could just be brave
I must become a lion hearted girl
Ready for a fight
Before I make the final sacrifice
Charlie had never so much as looked at a gun before, and now she finds herself having to be braver then she ever has before, and face the hordes that the angels have sent against them.
6. Cat people (putting out fire) - David Bowie
[Michael]
See these eyes so green
I can stare for a thousand years

You wouldn't believe what I've been through
You've been so long
Well it's been so long
And I've been putting out fire with gasoline

As an archangel, Michael had lived for centuries watching as humanity destroyed itself. But despite the years of disappointment, Charlie gives him a reason to fight.
7. He War - Cat Power
[Charlie]

From who you can
You know you can
The Fallen Angel tells her not to try anything brave, and that he will protect her, and makes Charlie feel the sort of exhilaration she hasn't found anywhere in life before.
8. Blood Meridian - Hope of the States
[Michael]
The money’s running out
The casino’s burning down
The police are getting nervous
The transmission’s shot
And the schools are all locked
The offices have shut up shop
It’s quiet on the streets today
I think I know what’s going on
But I’m too scared to say
In case I got it wrong
And made a bad mistake
The hordes of heaven are upon them, and people are dying left and right. Tomorrow might never come.
9. Golden Star - My Brightest Diamond
[Charlie]
I always felt so far from you
Like something wasn't right
But tonight
I rest my head inside the crook of your arm
and I feel like a golden star
She has seen things in the past 24 hours that she couldn't hope to explain, but the feeling she gets around Michael makes it seem like she really is important, and not just a girl who has been dragging her heels through life. Even with the battle reigning down on them, she feels a sort of happiness and power with him around.
10. All the trees of the field will clap their hands - Sufjan Stevens
[Michael]
If I am alive this time next year
Will I have arrived in time to share?
Mine is about as good this far
I'm still applied to what you are
And I am joining all my thoughts to you
And I'm preparing every part for you
If they survive the battle Michael isn't sure that he can just leave Charlie and return to his previous life. With Charlie is the first time he's really felt alive, and he's not sure what that means.
11. Wonderwall (Oasis cover) - Melissa Rebronja
[Charlie]

I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now

And all the lights that lead us there are blinding

Charlie believes that Michael can save her, even though everything from here on will just get harder. With him there she believes that maybe she can actually be saved.
12. I will follow you into the Dark - Death Cab for Cutie

And illuminate the "No"s
On their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you

Then I'll follow you into the dark
Michael has decided that even after the battle he wants to stay Charlie, and that he would follow her into anything that may come in the future.
13. Everywhere I go - Lissie
[Charlie]
Danger will follow me now everywhere I go
angels will call on me and take me to my home
well this time I just wants to be at home
And I fall on my knees tell me how's the way to go
tell me how's the way to see
show me all that I could be
Even though she safely gave birth to the child that will save humanity, she knows that from her on the rest of her life will be spent running from the forces that want to destroy her and the baby. And Michael is the only person she feels she can turn to for direction.

Even though it meant falling from heaven and living a human life, Michael is content to spend the rest of his life watching out for Charlie.
