Hmm, I honestly don't have a strong opinion on this episode either way. I was a bit surprised that Arthur becoming king seems to have had so little impact - all of this could have happened in pretty much exactly the same way while Uther was still around, so it seems a bit of an incongruous follow-up to the big game-changing drama of last week's, but then continuity has never really been this show's strong suit.
The scene with Arthur's fallen trousers made me literally laugh out loud, which is rare. Though I kind of wish it had happened somewhere privately, rather than in front of the council - the public humiliation aspect made me cringe and feel really bad for Arthur. On the other hand, Merlin jumping a trouser-less Arthur in private would, uh, probably not be suitable for teatime family viewing...
That scene when they were out on the road, with Leon producing that last bowl - was that full of food for Merlin, or was it just another empty dish for him to deal with? I couldn't really tell; I'd like to think it was the former, since I'd rather the knights weren't all dicks and I don't think Merlin would've smiled like that if he just didn't get dinner, but the way he was grumbling in the second dinner scene made me wonder. Also, man, that would've been a perfect opportunity for them to remember that Gwaine thinks Merlin's pretty great; shame he was totally generic.
Fun to see James Callis again. Too bad his character didn't get more development; I feel like there could've been some interesting stuff to do with his backstory with Gaius. Ah well.
And... I think that's about it. No major objections, no major excitement over anything.
