Not much to say about this one.

-Whoo shameless Indiana Jones rip-off! Now, if we could get Bradley in a fedora, we might be in business...

-We managed to get through two whole scenes of Arthur and Merlin together without Arthur throwing anything or being a dickhead! Hooray! How sad am I that this is now sufficient cause for celebration? Very.

-So now the Great Plot Device thinks it's not a good idea to let Uther be killed by magic? Ok, sure, whatever, I give up, maybe next week he'll send Morgana a 'Congrats on taking over a kingdom!' fruit basket, it's not like anyone remembers what these characters have said in the past or anything.

-Nice to see someone who's not Cackling Evil call Merlin out on this defending Uther over his own kind business. Really nice to see Merlin actually look kind of conflicted; too bad that's pretty much guaranteed not to go anywhere.

-Sometimes Uther seems like a pretty decent king in areas that don't have to do with magic; this was not one of those times. Guy's spent years and years going on about how Arthur needs to prove himself, Arthur needs to show everyone he's the best warrior ever, the people need to believe in Arthur, blah blah blah, and then decides he needs to enter the tournament and try to make Arthur look bad in front of all those spectators for the sake of his own vanity? Yeah, obviously it wouldn't have looked good for the reigning king to be defeated in tournament, but that's why he had no business entering in the first place with Arthur of age to compete. Sigh.

-No Gwen at all? That's the second time this year. I think she's doing better on overall screentime, but I don't think series 1 had any episodes where either of the girls was just completely absent.

Probably won't be able to see next week's until Monday night or Tuesday, but meh, it doesn't look like anything we haven't seen a million times before.

series 3, merlin
