I should be writing up adventures in Europe, or uploading pictures, or catching up on ten days' worth of The Internet, or watching Merlin and Doctor Who and all that jazz, but instead here, have a meme stolen from
miakun.

December
Nothing, because school was destroying my soul and then I left the country.
Leitmotif of the year:
I have no idea. Arthur being stupidly in love? Boys being dumb? Maybe trying to tackle reincarnation in a way that feels realistic to me, because Timing verse stuff takes up a substantial proportion of the word count here even if there aren't all that many individual stories for it.
Overall Thoughts:
Dumb boys are dumb. Girls are pretty. Crack is awesome. Stupid sappy fluff is kind of addictive.
My best story of this year:
Hmm. Depends on what you mean by 'best', I think. I'm probably proudest of The Universal Language< because it was such a labour of (mostly) love, but I'm not sure it's really the best thing I wrote. A lot of people loved Reversal of Fortune, it definitely seems to be the most popular, so maybe I'll go with that? I'm also still really, really pleased with On Swefnum, Incuthra Eorthan, even though it's only the second thing I finished for the fandom.
My favorite story of this year:
I like the Timing verse as a whole thing, but for individual story, it's probably The Wages of Gossip. It still makes me snicker on re-read, I like the OT4 undertones, I think a lot of the dialogue works quite well, and it's just plain fun.
Story of mine most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Hah. Everything that's not primarily Merlin/Arthur? If You Do It With Care, because more people should share my ridiculous love for silly fluffy Gwen/Merlin. Taking those fandom biases into account, though... I think The Future, and What's In Between is better than some of my other stuff that seems to be more popular.
Most fun story to write:
Not A Farcical Aquatic ceremony, because it was one long stretch of "Ok, what other ridiculous anachronistic nonsense can I throw in here?" plus not being especially bothered about characterisation or plausibility. Crack is a joy that way.
Story with the single sexiest moment:
Hmm. I feel like other people could judge this better than I can? I think either Force of Nature, because of all the desperation and magic business, or A Question of Power, because the sex is just so emotional and intense. Atypical is one big PWP, but I think it may be more fluffy than really sexy.
Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
Service, no question. Really, really dubious consent, Uther barging in on Arthur & Merlin's sex life, Arthur's daddy issues all over everything, Merlin putting up with Uther using him with it even though it's awful because otherwise he'd have to reveal himself and/or leave Arthur and Camelot, all kinds of fucked up things. I don't even know. There are some elements of it that I really like, but it still kinds of freaks me out that I wrote it at all.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Probably The Universal Language, just because it was this big epic thing of being inside Morgana's head for such a long time, and trying to tackle so many things to do with her and her situation.
Hardest story to write:
The Universal Language, again. Oh goodness. I'm still sort of astonished it even got finished. This thing took ages and so much research and brain-beating. Every other fic that's been anywhere near so difficult has just been abandoned because I wasn't invested enough to make the effort, but I was determined to finish this one, if only because I'd promised it to various people.
Biggest Disappointment:
Various things for the kink meme that I didn't own up to or repost for exactly this reason. Of stuff on the list above... I really don't know. Maybe Prelude, just because only like six people read it, though that was hardly surprising given the nature of it, and calling it a disappointment would be kind of an exaggeration.
Biggest Surprise:
Reversal of Fortune. It's not like I hated it when I wrote it or anything, but the response it's gotten really blows me away. I thought it would just be a quick one-off for the kink meme and it turned into the single most popular thing (going by comment count, at least) I've ever written.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
Unintentional isn't quite right since I sort of knew I was doing it, but Reversal of Fortune includes a lot of stuff that's quite personally true for me.
Story I haven't yet written, but intend to:
Timing verse Victorian OT5 orgy, other random Timing verse snippets, the really self-indulgent college theatre AU, Gwen/Merlin FIGHT CRIME AU. Possibly something attempting to deal with series 2, though I haven't actually seen the finale yet so I have no idea what that might look like.
