Writing with a kitty on my arm

I've been attempting to keep up in exercise for the first time in perhaps ever. I haven't been in Tae Kwon Do for a good three years and I don't have to walk much in the summer, so I've had nothing to keep me active. I haven't been able to exercise very regularly in the past due to the utter boredom of it, but I figured out a decent strategy for not getting sick of workouts (so long as they don't require a large space and/or equipment). I borrowed my sister's dumbbells and set them up in front of the TV, so I can watch the DVDs I haven't had time to touch yet at the same time as I weight lift and do crunches.

The first week of this actually went really well. I alternated focusing on weight-lifting and focusing on crunches each day, and sped through the entire series of Terra He by watching a disc a day. I'm slowly getting through Princess Tutu now, but I haven't been as diligent lately. It's hard to set up a schedule with nothing to keep it in place but stubborn determination, especially when Life starts to get in the way. Anime conventions, Renaissance Faires, birthday parties, a regular social life... I'm not always great at waking up early enough to work out and go out.

I'm terrified of what these attempts at staying healthy will become once classes start. Maybe I can try to walk to class from time to time, but the weather (and my bookbag's weight) has to cooperate for that first. Besides, I'd really rather focus on arm strength for now. I'm already having less trouble carrying groceries the five blocks home. Maybe some day I won't have to forgo milk due to needing to stock up on everything else!
