Still working on the newest bullshit the Fiction Department school threw at me. I'm not letting them off lightly this semester.
Tonight I had many adventures in the kitchen! I made sugar cookies, frosting, lemonade, and an unholy mess.
I used
this recipe for the cookies and followed it exactly, save for only having whole grain pastry flour on hand, rather than white all-purpose. I suspect that flour change was a mistake. It tastes of nothing but sugar, and not in the good way.
The frosting was a precise following of
this recipe. Turned out much better than the cookies and might be their saving grace, though getting it to spread on the cookies was less easy. I was kind of hoping it would be the kind of icing that dried hard and crunchy, but it more reminds me of cake frosting.
The lemonade was just throwing together a quart of water with random amounts of sugar and lemon juice until it tasted right. I'm not sure I got it, even then, because I couldn't quite taste whether it worked because the water wasn't fridge cold yet.
Cooking is way too much work for the reward, sometimes.
