This is another post about the Women's Empowerment Workshop. Yes, I'm asking for help again, but not the money-costing kind this time.
We need music.
Last year we put together a great soundtrack for WEW and gave out free copies to all participants. This year we're using CDs as prizes, and we're making two versions, so we need twice as much music. We've already got a fair amount of hip-hop (no fewer than three tracks by Christina Aguilera) and some pop, but not much in any other genres of music.
So please recommend me songs that make you feel empowered as a woman. (If you are not a woman, rec songs that express your idea of post-feminist masculinity. They won't make it on the CD but I am nonetheless interested.) Any song, any era, any genre is acceptable. If you could upload it as well, that would be fabulous, but I can just as easily go hunting for it--we have iTunes here and know how to use it.
For examples, the playlist from last year was:
"Respect" (Aretha Franklin"
"Give It To Me" (Timbaland feat. Nelly Furtado and JT)
"Hips Don't Lie" (Shakira)
"Fighter" (Christina Aguilera)
"I'm a Woman" (Peggy Lee)
"Beautiful" (Christina Aguilera)
"Somebody Write" (Shira Erlichman)
"Bitch" (Meredith Brooks)
"Can't Hold Us Down" (Christina Aguilera)
"Strong Enough" (Cher)
"I Will Survive" (Gloria Gaynor)
"I Don't Care About My Reputation" (Joan Jett)
"Ladies Night" (Li'l Kim and Missy Elliott)
"Express Yourself" (Madonna)
"Family Affair" (Mary J. Blige)
"These Boots" (Nancy Sinatra)
"Not a Virgin" (Poe)
"Sex Is Not The Enemy" (Garbage)
Spasibo bolshoye!
peace corps,
