Not quite... femdom is neat and tidy label for that section of BDSM where the dominant partner is female. The submissive parner can be either male or female.

Ah, *that* kind of kink! I thought you were using it as an all-inclusive meaning "het or femslash" - but the BDSM context makes more sense. :)

...and I *just now* realized that the "dom" in "femdom" comes from domination, not fandom. I think my confusion may center in the fact that "femdom" looks a lot like the word "fandom," but I'm not ruling out the contributing factor of my cluelessness, either. ::facepalm::

I'm more amused than beating myself up. Language misunderstandings are entertaining, I just seem to have more of them with fic/fandom than I do normally. :)

ETA - genderswitch alt universes sound cuhrayzee but kind of fun!

I think the problem with fandom/fanfic related shorthands is they aren't always as obvious as the people with the insider knowledge think they are :s
