Carrot update

Jan 06, 2009 11:07

I has mail
Please be advised that we are currently awaiting spare parts, as soon as the parts come in we will allocate your laptop back to an engineer to continue with the repair.
Erm are they really telling me they don't have an appropriate adapter handy??

It's a repair centre, you'd expect they'd have *one*...

Or am I being a bit naïve?

I like kel's interpretation but the truth of it is, repair centres actually keep very few parts and do kind of a 'just in time' thing like they run over in the Far East manufacturing industry. Basic stuff that can be used for more than one item will be on stock but more complicated stuff won't be. What the world seems to forget is that the Far East is efficient when using this way of working and Europe isn't.

Our dishwasher on the ward broke. Now a dishwasher is a fairly essential aid in helping to stop cross infection you would think, wouldn't you? So it should be dealt with handy, like. It was seen fairly quickly by the in-house repair team (hours) then we had to wait days for the contractor to come out and *then* we had to wait while they ordered a part.

The dishwasher was broken for nearly a month in the run up to Christmas, traditionally one of the busiest times of year, despite frequent phone calls from the ward staff. NOT good. Stupid NHS.

At least with Carrot being privately owned and *small* things should happen faster.

They're really playing an epic, cross-country game of pass-the-parcel with it *nods*

Fingers crossed it gets fixed soon!
