Grand Portage

A good exhausting day today. Drove up the lakeshore until we got to Grand Portage. We were starting to wonder where the state park was as we were coming up on the border patrol checkpoint. Then, I saw the turn off for it almost right in front of the check.

Talked with the ranger there a little bit and proceeded to High Falls. According to the ranger at our park, these are the highest falls in Minnesota, but since they are shared with Canada, they give credit to the highest fals IN Minnesota to some that are in a park south of us a little bit.

The falls were beautiful. Snapped several photos and took a quick video clip. The woods of this park had the ancient and misty feeling to them as well. Was a very relaxing place to be. Then hunted down the cache for that park.

After grabbing a bite to eat, we stopped at the next park down the highway. According to our friendly park ranger, Miranda, this park was home to Devils Kettle. This was a very neat set of falls. On one side, you had the typical style of falls. On the other side, though, the water coarsed into a large pothole. According to Miranda, they don't know where it comes out at. She said they have sent floats down it to see if they could track them and even dyed the water.

We also hunted down the cache for that state park as well. Now, back at our campsite next to the campfire for some reading and probably an early night.

Did hop online leaching WiFi from a hotel for a few minutes this morning for work, but not long enough to post any pictures. Guess everybody will have to keep waiting for that.
