So I haven't posted in forever, but I was so horrified by Amazon's recent descision to descriminate against the GLBT community that I had to say something.
Amazon claims that: In consideration of our entire customer base, we exclude "adult" material from appearing in some searches and best seller lists. Since these lists are generated using sales ranks, adult materials must also be excluded from that feature.
Hence, if you have further questions, kindly write back to us.
Go here for a list of these adult books, such as "Heather Has Two Mommies", "The Mayor of Castro Street", and "Hello Cruel World" which is a book about suicide prevention. If you're as horrified as I am e-mail Amazon at
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us/general-questions.html?ie=UTF8&type=email I recently learned of your decision to exclude certain "adult" books from searchs, bestseller lists and sales ranks. I was wondering what criteria you are using to determine what constitutes as "adult" material as I have noticed biographies, classics, childrens and Young Adult books, and self help books, and even college guides have been included as "adult" books.
What is especially troubling is the clear discrimination in your classification of adult material. Lots of non-erotic and and non-adult books have been included under the basis of the GLBT material. For a list of such books visit -->
http://community.livejournal.com/meta_writer/11992.html#cutid1 I am particularily horrified by you inclusion of such books as "Heather Has Two Mommies" and "Hello Cruel World" which is a suicide prevention book, as "adult" and therefore excluded books.
Until Amazon changes it's policy to one of non-discrimination I will no longer shop here and will advise my friends and family to do the same.
Not the best, and longer than necessary, but I get wordy when angry.
