I don't know too many queers that like rap, but I do. Here is the unwritten secret I'm now writing for you. The secret for enjoying and even >gasp< loving rap and hiphop. Here it is.

Read up on and learn about the artist. That's right. The real truth is, rap is one big soap opera. It's not about 'just' the music. It is equal parts the flow and the people. At any given time there are about 20 'hot' rap artists. They are constantly playing off of and forming dynamics. There is incredible amounts of emotion being poured into their songs. And where there is emotion, there is DRAMA.

Drama sparks conflict which catches peoples emotions which adds fuel to the drama. And round and round she goes.

I'm not going to go into vast detail and contrast and compare- frankly, most people hate 'black' music. But just to give you a tid bit of the drama and what makes your top end rap artists successful I'll point out 3 of the top 5. Eminem: White in a black world, struggling to be a good father, ground breaking lyrics. 50 Cent: Shot 9 times and lived, found God, and tries to reach young kids on the street. Snoop Dawg: The original playa', master of selling and reinventing himself, He's stayed on top for so long because of how well he manages drama.

So go on the net. Pick an artist. Learn about them as their cd plays in the background. I'm telln' ya'. Me ta' you. Feel this shit.
