Ryuu’s face turned serious.
“Enna, you like Natsune, right?” he asked her.
“I love her.” She said.
“So you’d always be with her?”
“Hai. I wish to be so. I love Natsune-chan. And I love Ryuu-kun, too,” she blushed as she said it, “I would not want to be away from you.”
Ryuu finally smiled, but his eyes were still solemn. “Will you promise then?”
“Promise?”
“Promise me you’ll never leave us.” He said.
Enna looked at him questioningly. He held her gaze. Finally, Enna spoke.
“I promise to always be with Ryuu-kun and Natsune-chan.” She said.
Ryuu relaxed.
That’s when they realized that they were already down.
CHAPTER 11
Ryuu was worried. He was annoyed he was worried. He didn’t really know why but when he saw that picture of the old princess, he couldn’t help but feel worried. It was as if something was going to happen. Something he didn’t want.
He had read the pamphlet. It doesn’t really say much. Only that the princess was lost during the civil war and wasn’t found until today. It says there that the royal family did have their descendants residing in Sankeien Garden but that’s that.
The princess and Enna-chan... they look too alike. And that mark on Enna’s left leg... Ryuu couldn’t help but believe that they are connected somehow.
Ryuu was sidetracked when Yabu called them, their performance would be starting soon. As Ryuu promised, he left Enna-chan by the camera where she could watch.
He had peaked at her when he ascended the stage and wave at her. He smiled when he saw her excited face.
Their performance went without hitches. Well, there were problems in the light so they’d have to change the arrangement of the songs but besides that, everything was perfect.
They went backstage after their last encore and the other members were still hyped up. Ryuu went to his bag to check if Enna was already there. She was and she beamed at him when she saw him. And Ryuu winked at her.
After changing, the members all filed out of the arena and got on the van to go back to the hotel. Tomorrow there would be another performance and the next day would be their last. Natsune-chan would be watching the performance tomorrow.
Ryuu with Yabu-kun and Enna-chan inside his bag entered their hotel room. Yabu-kun immediately crashed to his bed while Ryuu sat down, opened his bag and took Enna-chan to their bedside table.
“You brought the doll.” Yabu commented, looking at Ryuu while lying on his bed.
“I thought my sister would be watching today,” Ryuu lied smoothly.
“Ah...” Yabu responded. “You... you’re really fond of that doll.” He observed. “I mean, you always put her beside you and you take good care of her.”
Ryuu smiled. “Well, that’s because my sister love this doll, I guess...”
“It seems you love that doll, too.” Yabu said.
Ryuu shrugged, “I guess.” He said, and he smiled at Enna-chan. But it did not reach his eyes.
Yabu noticed.
“Are you okay, Ryuu?” he asked him sitting up.
Ryuu looked at him perplexed.
“You seems... off... Like you’re worried about something.”
“Maybe I’m just tired.” Ryuu suggested.
“Well, let’s call it a night then.” Yabu said. “We still have two more performances. You better rest up.” He patted Ryuu on the back. Ryuu smiled at him.
Ryuu went and prepare for the night and continued to lay down his bed.
He lay for a long time. He really couldn’t sleep.
Enna was watching him. She was getting worried. Ryuu was acting weird.
Finally, Ryuu got up and went to the balcony.
Enna was about to follow him but then Yabu-san, too, got up and went to the balcony.
She smiled at the back of Yabu-san. She knew he could soothe Ryuu.
“Okay, spill. What is it?”
“Yabu-kun!” Ryuu said, startled. “What do you mean?”
“You have a problem.” It was not a question, it was a statement.
“No...” Ryuu said.
Yabu looked at him sceptically.
“Really, it’s not a problem...” he said.
“What is it then?” Yabu asked, concern lacing his voice.
Ryuu looked at his worried face and sighed.
“Well... what if you have to choose?” Ryuu started. Yabu waited.
“Would you choose to know the truth and be sad or to stay ignorant and happy?” he asked.
There was a short pause, and then Yabu spoke.
“It’s obvious isn’t it? I’ll choose to know the truth. I might be sad for a while but that wouldn’t last. That’s life after all. On the other hand, it wouldn’t be real happiness, ne? It’s better to face the truth.” He said.
Ryuu looked at him then he laughed.
“What is it?” Yabu asked.
“Well, you really looked like an onisan, then.” He said. “I wonder if Shin or Natsune would ever see me like that.” He chuckled.
Yabu smiled. “Well, did that help?”
Ryuu nodded, “I guess I have to face it, huh...”
There was another pause.
“Ryuu, you’re really making me curious. What is this about?” Yabu asked.
“It’s really nothing.” Ryuu said. “I don’t even know why I’m worrying about it. It just... I have this gut-feeling...”
“About what? Jeez Ryuu, you’ll make me go mad.” Yabu said, exasperated.
He looked at Ryuu. “Are you in love?”
“Huh?” Ryuu said laughing.
“You are in love!” Yabu said.
“What are you talking about?” Ryuu asked.
“You’re being all weird and happy and secretive and now you’re worrying about something. You must be in love.” Yabu said convinced.
Ryuu laughed more. “What is this, Yabu-kun? Is this from experience?” Ryuu teased.
“No!” Yabu said defensively. Ryuu laughed louder.
Yabu caught Ryuu and ruffled his hair.
“Hey!” Ryuu protested and they both laughed.
“Ne, Yabu-kun...” Ryuu said after they caught their breaths.
“Hm?”
“Can I go out tomorrow? I promise I’ll be back for the performance.” He said.
Yabu looked at him and then groaned. “You’re really killing me with this secret of yours.” He complained.
“It’s fine, but be sure to be back at least an hour before we leave the hotel for our performance.”
“I will.” Ryuu promised.
He looked at Yabu.
“What?” Yabu asked.
Ryuu smiled and mock-punched Yabu. “Thanks... Nii.”
Yabu smiled. “Sure, bro.”
