AN:
-when randomness strikes. Seriously, I was just scribbling random stuffs and this came out. /shot
-AU. Mami is a year younger than Kei here (in RL, Mami is a month older)
-OCC. i wasn't really thinking of any pairing in particular when i typed this so you can actually imagine anyone here, except for the first two sentence, there are no names mentioned.
-don't really know what this is, but I'll just tag it as a drabble.
Kei was always around when Aki and I play.
Mami was my sister's best friend.
He was the first boy that made me feel I was a girl.
She had always been very shy.
He would always take care of me.
She was such a crybaby.
He probably thought of me as a little sister.
She smiles, and then I have to try to convince myself again that I only thought of her as a sister.
He would always play the piano around noon.
She'd stop playing her guitar, cause she knew I'd be practicing my piano then.
He was in first year high school when he had his first girlfriend.
She was in third year middle school when we stopped talking.
He was always frowning when I saw him.
She was always listening to music whenever I saw her.
He was in third year of high school when they broke up and when my friends found out I like him.
She was in second year of high school when people started teasing the two of us.
He'd also started teasing me.
She'd just roll her eyes at me, but I could see in her eyes that she was laughing.
He'd asked me if I was going to the dance.
She told me she would and that was the last time we spoke.
He attended university and I didn't see him anymore.
She graduated and entered her dream school. She was chasing her dream; I was proud.
He graduated from college, and the next thing I knew, he was getting married.
She never came to the wedding. I guess she was busy with her studies.
His sister and I met by coincidence, and I found out he'll be having his first daughter soon.
Her mother came to visit my mom, and I found out she was soon graduating from law school.
We met by chance, and he laughed saying I haven't changed a bit.
We met by chance, and she hugged me and told me she missed me.
He asked me how I was; teased me about not finding a man, cause I'd always been 'too manly for a girl'.
She pouted and showed me her engagement ring.
He smiled and said he was happy for me.
She told me she was happy too, and that she'd like to meet my family.
He was with his family when we met again. He looked happy.
She was with her fiancé when we met again. She looked a little sad.
I was crying when he called. He found out what happened.
I couldn't understand why she would still marry him. She knew he was cheating on her.
He was there on my wedding day.
She took my hand, when I told her we should go.
He took me away, cause he knew I'd regret it.
She let me take her, and I wished I really could.
We ran till we were out of breath. And I realized he was holding my hand.
We ran till we were away from everything. And I realized there was no place to go. We couldn't run from everything.
He let go of my hand, and smiled sadly at me.
She smiled at me as well, understanding only too well.
"It's better to be with someone you love second best."
I did, but I'd never know if this was true. I never knew what it would be like with her. I was a coward.
I might, but I know this wouldn't be true. 'Cause I'd always wonder of 'what ifs' and wish I had been braver.
