"Ryosuke." Mirai called for the third time. "What is it?" She asked a little impatiently. Ryosuke had been staring at his phone since she came back from the kitchen.
"Ah, Mirai." Ryosuke said, looking surprised that she was already there. "Chii just called… He sounded weird…" He told her.
"Hm? How so?" Mirai asked, curious.
"It's… well, he doesn't sound like the usual Chii… He just asked where I am right now and I told him I was visiting you and then he hang up." Ryosuke said in wonder.
Mirai frowned, feeling a little worried for their friend.
She was about to suggest to Ryosuke to call him back when the doorbell rang.
Mirai was distracted at what Ryosuke said but she stood up, nevertheless to get the door.
Mirai wasn't really very surprised when when she opened the door, it was to see Chii himself in their front porch. What she was surprised about was the state Chii was in.
"Chii?! What happened? Are you okay??"
Suddenly, Chii hugged her very very tight and was he sniffling?
"Chii??" Mirai said, sounding confused while awkwardly patting Chii on his back.
Not really knowing what to do, Mirai called for Ryosuke.
"Mirai?" Ryosuke appeared in their lobby. "What happ--Is that Chii??" Ryosuke sounded a little alarmed.
'Help me.' Mirai mouthed at him.
Ryosuke stared at Chii. "Chii? What---Are you crying??"
But Chii didn't reply and just held on Mirai.
After a lot of tries, Ryosuke had managed to pry Chii off his girlfriend and pulled him in to Mirai's living room. He sat Chii down the couch while Mirai went to the kitchen to get their distraught friend a glass of water.
"Chii? What happened??" Ryosuke asked as gently as he could.
Chii just kept sniffling, seemingly trying not to cry.
"K…" He choked. Just then Mirai arrived with the water. Ryosuke took it at once and pass it onto Chii. Chii drank it all in a gulp. "…hates me." He said.
"Huh??" Ryosuke and Mirai said as one.
But Chii's eyes started watering again.
"Hates you? Someone hates you? Who??" Mirai asked worriedly.
But Chii started sniffling once more. "…can't believe it. And coming from… Hates me…"
"Chii… “Ryosuke said praying for patience.”What you say doesn’t make sense Chii… What happened??"
Chii just looked at him and then hugged him this time. "Yama-chan~ I'm hated!!!!" He said, full out crying now.
Ryosuke looked at Mirai helplessly.
Mirai thought, remembering only one thing. "Umika-chan said you'd plan to hang out in their house today…" Mirai said slowly.
Chii's grip on Ryosuke tightens. Ryosuke looked at Mirai meaningfully.
"Did Umika say… did you two fight? Chii…" Mirai said imploringly. "Umika don't hate you… She can't hate you."
But Chii was vigorously shaking his head, seemingly not believing Mirai.
"I promise you Chii, Umika loves you very much." Mirai said gently. "You might have fought, and she might have said that but I'm sure she doesn't mean it...”
It was no use. Chii just kept crying.
"Mirai, can you call Kawashima?" Ryosuke asked.
Mirai just nodded, took out her phone and dialed Umika's number. She answered almost at once. Mirai set her phone on loudspeaker.
"Umi-chan, it's Mirai. Chii---"
"Is he with you??" Umika's worried voice said.
"Yes. He's a mess. What happened?" Mirai said.
"I'm not sure. I'm coming in a bit." Umika said and hang up.
"See, Chii?" Ryosuke said. "Umika's very worried of you. That doesn't sound like someone who hates you."
Again, Chii just shook his head.
About ten minutes after that and wherein Ryosuke and Mirai tried and failed to get more information from Chii, the doorbell finally rang.
"That would be Umika." Mirai said, standing up and going straight to the door.
In a few seconds, Umika was calling for Chii.
"Yuri??" She saw him and the expression on her face softened. "Oh Yuri, what happened? You just suddenly disappeared."
"Ka-chan…" Chii said, looking as if he wanted to cry once more.
That was when Mirai entered the room and with her was Umika's four year old nephew, Kyuu.
"You!" The little guy suddenly said angrily. Everyone looked at him. Umika's, Mirai's and Ryosuke's faces were filled with surprised while Chii's with misery.
"Ka-chan! Don't talk with him! He's a bad person!" Kyuu suddenly said, looking pleadingly at Umika.
"Huh?"
"I hate him!!!" Kyuu suddenly said, looking as if he wanted to cry.
"Kyuu…" Chii muttered in a defeated and hurt voice.
"He's the one who said..?" Ryosuke trailed off.
"What are you talking about, Kyuu? This is Chichi. Why would you hate him?" Umika asked, approaching the little boy.
"He can't be trusted…" Kyuu said looking at the floor. "He doesn't love Ka-chan anymore."
"Eh?" Mirai, Ryosuke and Chii said.
Umika ignored them, not looking away from his nephew.
"Why do you say that?" She asked Kyuu as she kneeled in front of him.
"Kyuu saw Chichi kissing another girl…" Kyuu said.
"I would never--!"
Kyuu glared at Chii and Chii shut up.
"I really saw it!" The little guy said. "She has long hair and is really pretty but not as pretty as Ka-chan!"
"Kyuu--!" Chii couldn't say anything.
Umika again, ignored his outburst.
"Where did you saw this?" Umika asked.
Chii gaped at Umika. He couldn't believe she actually believed it.
"On the television…" Kyuu said.
And then Umika smiled. "Thought so…"
Mirai also laughed.
"Kyuu… your Chichi is not a bad person." Umika told Kyuu slowly.
"He is!" Kyuu tried to say.
"No, he's not. He's just an actor, just like Ka-chan." Umika explained. "You saw my drama right? Papadol?"
Kyuu nodded.
"In Papadol I have a little sister and a little brother and I have no dad. That's not true, isn't it?" Umika said.
Kyuu stared at her, but nodded anyway.
"I was just acting then." Umika continuend to say. "That was also what you saw with Chichi. He was acting with this girl, pretending she was his girlfriend. It was just for work."
Kyuu frowned. "Even if it is for work, he shouldn't kiss other girls!" He said.
"Kyuu…" Mirai said. "You've also seen my movies right? There were those that I kiss someone other than Ryo-chan, right? It's just the same as that." Mirai tried saying. "It doesn't mean I don't love Ryo-chan anymore."
"It wasn't a real kiss." Ryosuke said. "Not everything you see on TV is real."
"Kyuu…" Chii said, making his way to the younger guy. "I love Ka-chan very much. And only her…"
Kyuu was pouting, his lower lip trembling. "Promise?"
"Promise." Chii said.
Kyuu kept quiet for a long while and then slowly, he nodded.
Umika, Mirai and Ryosuke let out a relieved sigh.
But then Kyuu started crying.
"I'm sorry!" Kyuu was telling Chii.
"It's okay, little guy." Chii said, hugging Kyuu and seemingly trying not to cry again.
"I don't hate Chichi…" Kyuu's muffled little voice said. And Mirai could swear she saw tears welling up at Chii's eyes.
Umika probably saw it as well, because she let out a little 'awww' and hugged the two guys.
"It feels like I'm watching Family Reunion or something." Ryosuke said in a whisper.
"Tell me about it." Mirai said, grinning in amusement at their friends.
