What Is It With Networks, Anyway?

What bizarre urge causes Network People to look at a successful show and think, "Let's just change this around a bit!"   ...Wouldn't it perhaps be more logical to wait till the show is broken before "fixing" it?

She's also often the person on the team that the victim's family bonds with.

This!! I mean, I don't know if they were doing a test run or what when they brought in the other chick to cover her while she was on maternity leave, but I really didn't like the other chick either. She was whiny, I totally didn't believe her when she stood up to Hotch (those scenes were all, wha? for me as she seemed like a little kid telling off her parents for things that she's not mature enough or knowledgeable enough to understand. -_-)

She just gives the team that feeling of warmth and makes them seem like a family instead of just a bunch of people obsessed with their jobs to the point of having no other life. -_- The family feel is really important to what makes the show work over the long term. Without it, it's just one of those Case monster of the week type shows where you're more interested in the case than in the characters.

I love Emily now. Part of it was her being brought in after Elle, because I liked Elle and Emily seemed very much replacement!Elle. But she's a different enough character that it didn't matter in the end. Part of it too, was that in the first couple episodes I saw her in, she was butting heads with my favorite characters and I was all, 'who the hell do you think you are, coming in here and giving the regulars a hard time when you haven't proven your worth yet??' ^_^;; But, in general, I'm not predisposed to liking new characters introduced in long running seasoned shows. You love the ones that are already established, and when they leave, you feel just a bit betrayed. I stopped watching CSI:Miami altogether when they got rid of Speedel because he was my favorite, and as it turns out the only interesting character on that show.

Lol, so, um, here's an essay back? ^_^ It's just aggravating, because you know they'd never try and get rid of Reid's character, and JJ is just as important a character as he is, she just happens to be female. -_-

It's funny, but that's exactly where my mind went! They haven't done much with Reid lately, but they wouldn't dare reduce or replace his role!!! LOL
