Vince Young, you are a hero unto us all!
There is no method or way to describe the way the game was played. Just so incredible!!!
The 1st qtr was unbelievable. Texas had quite a rough start, with Erin Ross, 31, fumbling the ball to make a turnover to USC.
More fumbles ensued in the 2nd qtr, with a graced recovery at the last possible instant.
Pino had some pretty crappy kicks, missing a punt and a field goal (4 pts). His missed punt haunted all pro-Longhorn viewers throughout those next 2.5 quarters...I tell ya, I was so surprised to hear my Dad say that all we needed was Vince; he'd get us through. (Said at 1st qtr)
Terrel Brown got his arm in a cast during the 3rd qtr, along with either R.T. or Jamal getting knocked aside as well, all thanks to the one USC fullback (i think) who made one of the two touchdowns that almost won the game for them. Yes, almost.
The score at the 4th qtr was pretty rediculous. UT was down by 12, or eventually got there, so i recall. Score was prbly 26-38, at the time.
...and then came Vince...
After an unforseen turn of events on the Longhorn defense twice, Vince, i mean, just comes along and runs past all concievable odds.
The first run included sprinting on the right side, with a fake pass toward the opposing side of the field, which seemed to fake them ALL out USC side, and blazed through for a much needed touchdown score.
Vince and the LH team faked USC all out, with the usual strategy of whittling the gap between the opposing defense and the in-zone, to get the other twenty yards with about 30 seconds left on the clock.
After everything thus far, things just seemed hopeless. UT still down by 5 (therefore Pino's earlier 4 pts probably wouldn't have mattered winning-wise anyway) 33 to 38 USC. Vince makes a miracle play and drives it off the bottom right corner of the inzone again with about 16 seconds left on the clock!
To ensure a chance at sealing victory, Texas even ran for the 2 pter instead of the 1 pt kick (with history, not very surprising, either)
The amazing thing is USC actually almost made a comeback in those last precious seconds. The weird thing was, they got it past the 50 on the runs in those 8 seconds. Just...ran out of time in the end, i guess.
To top it all off, BOO YEAH! Longhorns 4 t3h w1N!!!!!1!!1!
Thank you very much, ladies and gents, and i bid thee a good night!
The Sun shall rise tomorrow glowing an electrifying BURNT ORANGE!
