we went to orlando for a week and it was fantastic. i'm not exactly a fan of disney and all its hype but it was fun none-the-less. the weather was perfect. not too hot. and my step-mom kept ely in her room for a couple nights so we could get a good night's sleep. he still wakes up at night and must be fed. my step-mom could only stay from saturday to tuesday so we didn't have that luxury all week. thankfully she had him sunday night because we both had a stomach bug and were singing Camodaoke. most of the night. glad it was only a 12-24 hour bug. jes and i had dinner with a friend from FSU sunday night and all shared a salad. i was sure that was what had made us sick but my friend was fine.
we took ely to sea world and animal kingdom. i fell in love with the manta roller coaster at sea world. you hang like you are flying and go down the first big hill head first. wicked awesome! i couldn't get my brother to go a second time so i had to ride alone. isn't that tantamount to going to the movies alone? oh yeah my brother came to florida too. i got to see a side of him i hadn't realized. he's a bum! i thought army boot camp would have made him a bit more, i dunno, interactive. but i was wrong. and he's a mooch. and i never heard him say thank you the entire week. criminy, a thank you to your mother for buying your dinner would have been nice!!! or your sister for paying for your condo! (i only paid the timeshare exchange fee, but that was more than he paid). yet he still complained when i changed the tv channel to watch the mass. election results. oy vey.
we also decided on this trip that ely was going to get his own seat on the plane. what a fabulous way to fly. he slept in his car seat and we read. glorious. we should have contemplated that for our trip to spain.
we found this neat contraption that you hook onto your car seat so it pulls it like luggage and can even tote your kid. he usually rides on one of our backs in the ergo, because it's so much easier and we don't have to take him off going to security.
