Today trying to find a new career from the jury pool at Cuyahoga County Court House I got a, "Call me Back, It's important." call from from my brother. My mother was walking to the scrabble table at the senior center when she blacked out and face planted into a table, or a chair. She was roused and EMT took her to Southwest General. They life flighted her to Metro where she's in ICU I guess in stable condition. Apparently she has really bad arthritis in her vertebrae that no one knew about. When she fell one of her disks slipped and pinched her spine. She's breathing pretty easily on her own, but her heart rate is really low. She can't feel a thing in her legs, but can kind of mover her arms, though we're not sure she knows she's doing it. The doctors in ICU think the spine damage is irreparable so the wait and see will be whether she's a paraplegic, or a quadriplegic. I suppose the spinal experts in the morning could have a different story. The trauma doctor is more concerned about making sure she survives the night. They think operating to pull the disk off the spine could compromise her faculties that are still working.

Yay life!
