Unlike a Virgin

If you're like me, you remember a time when MTV played music videos. And, if you're like me, you responded like a finely-tuned lab rat to the intermittent reinforcement schedule MTV fed you. You waited in rapt attention for the handful of videos you wanted to see while they played a mushy cocktail of youth-oriented commercials and videos you wanted to see... less.
If you remember this golden age when MTV turned your living room into a pop culture Skinner box, you also remember that it was the heyday of Madonna. If you're like me, you were never a fan, but you waited patiently through plenty of Madonna videos. Because, after all, there were worse things on MTV. And while you waited you soaked it all up incidentally, from the calculated minxishness of "Like a Virgin" to the calculated controversy of "Like a Prayer." If you're like me, you recognize every Madonna song that got airplay, even if you're indifferent toward them. If you're like me, you'll love Opposite Day's Unlike a Virgin.
If you're an actual Madonna fan, I don't know what you'll make of it.
Opposite Day is a mostly-polished, indy "art-rock" band from Texas, and they've covered Madonna's 1990 best-of album, The Immaculate Collection, song for song.
And it rocks.
You can listen to the whole thing on their website. In fact, I don't think the album is for sale. I especially enjoy track 4, but there's much awesome here.
