An old fart died the other day. So it goes.
Cat's Cradle was among the top five works that impacted me most in my high school years (along with
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance,
the Elric Saga, the
R.E.M. catalog, and the
Tao Te Ching). I didn't read
Slaughterhouse-Five until my college years, and I don't think I really appreciated it until I read it more recently. I have a feeling I'll appreciate it even more when I'm ten years older, and so on.
