The RSC histories! The Complete cycle!

Just spent 4 days in Stratford for the RSC Histories in the Courtyard theatre - there are loads of links to rehearsals and blogs here: http://www.rsc.org.uk/content/5013.aspx as Angevin points out.

It was a mega weekend (for want of a better description)  marvellous fab and superb!  Richard II and Henry V in particular, though highlights in all the plays!  Hal & Bolingbroke's reconcilation, the Talbots pere et fils  (and this theme was carried throughout.)  Lex Shrapnel and Keith Bartlett play not just the Talbots but also Northumberland and Hotspur, The Son who killed his father and the Father who killed his son, Stanley & Richmond, the pirates that capture Suffolk, the spirits conjured up by the Duchess of Gloucester, and ghosts  - there were lots of ghosts!!!!

Clive Wood was outstanding as York and Bolingbroke.  Jonathan Slinger  - well Richard II through to Richard III, via the Bastard, Fluellen  - his torture of Clifford was spine chilling and as for the "Now" !  Well wow is all I can say!

When we weren't in the theatre, we were at the Dirty Duck - I do love Stratford  :-)
