My cat Cayenne was pregnant as of today. I woke up this morning to hear her meowing like CRAZY. I went down the stairs and there was blood on them. I continued into the kitchen to find blood on the floor, and there was Cayenne, with blood dripping down the back of her. She was going into labor. Then, her water broke. My brother and I were about to take her to the vet but then she went into a little cove, so we let her be. She later came out covered in more blood and I had a friend of family come over because I couldn't stomach seeing a dead kitten, if it was dead indeed. The kitten was dead. It was so tiny and covered in blue because my cat decided to have her first kitten on a painting I did in high school. Her paws were also covered in blue paint. All of this happened around 9 this morning. She still had baby kittens in her stomach and hour by hour passed, and she didn't have any more kittens. She then decided to lay in a mattress pad that was curled up so she had a little cave and if I left her, she would follow me around the house. So, I took a pillow and blanket, and fell asleep on the floor next to her. So, after 8 hours and my mom came home from work, we took Cayenne to the vet. She had to have an emergency c-section. I started to tear up and the vet said we would hear from him in an hour.
She is alright and she has two kittens, alive but weak. One is having a lot of trouble breathing. I really hope both kittens make it, and the vet said that Cayenne should make a full recovery.
Side note - We were told Cayenne was spayed when we got her, or we wouldn't have taken her. My mom is really upset. One, because Cayenne's health has been jeopardized, and two because the surgery just cost her a whopping $200.
