Yeah, these were borrowed/stolen/edited from Harmony's blog, but what the hell...
2006
1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before? Have people paying to read my work!
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I've not made any of those for years - if you're going to change (and really mean it), you'd change on your own free will, not just because it's a new year.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? No.
4. Did anyone close to you die? Nobody really close - a few relatives died, but none that I was close to (or even knew about until they'd died)
5. What countries did you visit? Just England, I'm afraid - it was a very quiet year compared to '04 and '05 trips to North America.
6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006? More confidence in myself, a better job (or at least, better conditions) and less insecurity about my relationships.
7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Can't say I have a date that really stands out in '06.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Getting published!
9. What was your biggest failure? Losing someone in my life who was extremely special to me. I was extremely thankful for (what felt like) the miracle that Cat even spoke to me again, let alone gave me a second chance...
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Barring the three days I missed from work because I had to have a toenail pulled out, no...
11. What was the best thing you bought? Nothing really sticks out.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Ditto.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? At times, it'd have to be my own.
14. Where did most of your money go? After the essentials in life, probably on wrestling tickets and DVDs... it sure as hell wasn't on CDs (cough)
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? The end of 2006, and whatever it is 2007's going to have in store!
16. What song will always remind you of 2006? Even though it wasn't even written in 2006, Stan Bush's "Dare" kinda sticks out
("Dare - dare to believe you can survive
You hold the future in your hand
Dare - dare to keep all of your dreams alive
It's time to take a stand
And you can win, if you dare")
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Way happier.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Spending time with friends and not being the miserable sod I was for the first half of 06.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Beating myself up over pointless matters...
20. How will you be spending Christmas? I spent it with my family.
22. Did you fall in love in 2006? I think I can safely say yes :)
23. How many one-night stands? None
24. What was your favorite TV program? Nothing stood out on Britsh TV, but out of the stuff I downloaded, the US version of the Office was good.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? I don't hate anyone - there's way too many people I've said in the past that I've hated. Time heals all wounds; there are some folks who've shown me why I dislike them, but hate is way too strong a word.
26. What was the best book you read? My own! (Seriously - out of all of them that I read, mine was the best, and I'm not just blowing my own horn either)
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Can't pick out one, but I've gotten a new-found love for Our Lady Peace lately.
28. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? How sad is this? I turned 23 last year, and I cannot remember a single thing. Not because I was drunk, but because I didn't do anything. Guess I have to make up for that this year!
29. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006? Misguided, as ever!
30. Who was the best new person you met? Even though I've not met her yet (23 days...), I'm going to have to say Cat here.
31. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006? "When things look like they are at their shittiest point, something will come out of nowhere and completely change your life... It's true, you really don't know what the future holds...." (yeah, I stole that from Harmony too, but it rings true)
32. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"If you were king
If you were king you'd set me free
But I'd be too dumb
I'd be too dumb to ever leave
Sometimes it is good
Sometimes it's as bad as it could be
Sometimes it's lost
And sometimes it's right in front of me"
(in a weird way, that pretty much describes the last six weeks of the year)
