So I found a book that I started not last summer, but the one before, that I've hardly written in. Its pretty, and flowery, and it is specifically devoted to happy things.
I think that making a specific effort to write about happy or beautiful things, no matter how small, is a really good idea for my mental health. It's easy to get lost in the negative. But if I have this book, then I'm partly looking for things to be positive about.
So if this journal seems negative, it might because all of the most beautiful things are going into my little book. Part of the reason to have it be portable is that I will be more likely to go back and read it.
(by the way. the sunset today was really great. At first I wasn't in the mood to care, but then I couldn't resist the fact that I could see the mist settled over all of the sf bay, and that that mist was simultaneously orange and purple. I love it.)
