Auditions and Oddities

Life is flying past me at an increasingly alarming rate.

On Saturday I have auditions for a local theatre company. I've enjoyed the work I've seen by this company (and I've seen a lot of it), but I've never auditioned for them before. I'm excited. I'm sure on Saturday I'll be a nervous wreck, but right now I just feel good about it. I had some new acting headshots made, and they look fairly snazzy. I'm working on updating my acting resume. I've picked my monologue material. Fingers are crossing.

On top of that I have work coming up with two other theatre groups (possibly three). It's not paid work, though, so that's a bummer. Right now I'm just trying to work as much as I can to help hone my craft. I hate that phrase, but it's the accepted euphemism for "I'm trying to suck less."

Tonight I go to a networking thingamabob to try and get a real job (still without one of those, and it's getting old). After that it's off to a writers' meeting for a show that will be performed in less than two weeks. Nice that we're getting around to writing it. Then tomorrow I go see They Might Be Giants. I tell ya, TMBG is an odd band. Not only do they appeal to geeks, nerds, and their ilk, but they seem to appeal to a new generation every few years. Whenever I go to their shows I see way more younger folks than folks my age. It's not like their fan base ages with them; it's like they get a renewable fan base source. Perhaps they recycle.

That's about it for now. Hopefully some of the stuff I'm currently working on will pan out.
