Children with Autism experience wierd if not painful sensations to touch. Tristan won't let anyone touch his hands or face for example except me. It's literally painful for him when they do it without the right kind of grip. It's even more challeging for his mouth, it's a serious battle raged for getting him to let people in his mouth. Which experiences textures very differant then you and I would. I know Tristan's little friend at school, getting his hair shampoo'd feels like he's being burned even if the water is cold. (his mom says he just sobs and says hot over and over again, heartbreaking cause the little boy is sooo sweet) :(
When the Dentist asked his doctor for advice the Doctor told him it would be in Tristan's best interest to put him under for the exam. I'm not sure its in his best interests to do that though. I don't know if Patrick would know any relaxation attempts to work on at home or somethin for kids on that. Any suggestions?
