days like these

I went over my Uncles' house today. Bob and Jim were both home today, so I decided to pay them a visit. I baked them cookies, because they cover me all the time (including the time Megan and I were at the lake, really high, cold and tired and we needed a place to stay. the uncles obliged, we crashed on the couch and not a word was said to my parents). Basically, they're awesome uncles and I love them to death. Today was so laid-back, and I really needed it. Jim's friend Jake came over (the biggest douchbag I know) and we sat around and listened to Kerouac on tape. Someone ordered Japanese, and they started drinking. (I'm pretty sure they know I "indulge" and stuff with my friends, but they for some reason don't like me to do it around them.) I'm the odd one out, so i played "The Godfather" on Xbox for the rest of the afternoon. After dinner we watched 'Entourage' on DVD and drank coffee and ate a big costco-sized barrel of biscotti (we're all fat asses hahaha). This is a typical saturday night at the young Basile household. On Sundays, we all go over my grandfather's house and have a huge italian dinner and watch football (during the season, of course) or we sit on the back porch and watch the sunset. I enjoy weekends. I rarely ever go out, and I like it that way. Sometimes my family bugs the shit outta me...and other days, im perfectly content with sitting at the dinner table listening to stories about new york, italy, and the family back home. I love my grandparents. They're both NYC natives (Brooklyn, the Bronx). My grandfather is 50/50 italian/ irish and my grandmother is Barbation (haha, she's white, but only drinks Mount Gay rum). I remember I once called my grandfather a "Paisan" and he bitched me out for a good 10 minutes...i laughed my ass off. I'm going to miss days like these when I move away. I'll be lost and have no sense of direction without the mountains...
