Everyday with Rukia was both a joy and torture.
Everything he did with her was bound to result in noise pollution, not including the times when she had her nice-girl appearance on during school. However, amazingly, through all the fights, all the conflict, all the quarrels, they managed to build this bond of silent understanding between them, to know where the limits were and recognise which were the boundaries that should never be crossed.
They both suffered from the past, and with their future not looking very promising with them having to face those forsaken hollows everyday, all they could do was savor the present, to enjoy and treasure the important things that were dear to them at any moment.
Hence, being partners in protecting Karakura town, they naturally spent a lot of time together while hunting those trouble makers, which gave them a lot of bonding time to understand and appreciate each other more.
At least, that’s what Ichigo thought.
What in Soul Society and Human Earth had he done to deserve this?! Of course, it was careless of him to let the chappy fan drop onto the concrete ground without warning, while he was carrying her on his back. It’s not his fault the hollow appeared out of nowhere and engaged him in battle. In a split second second, he had to decide either to let her go and get himself sliced or get the both of them churned to mince meat. The latter was obviously the worse choice since Byakaya would probably never forgive his sorry and pitiful soul and make his afterlife living hell.
The blows on her head must have knocked out a large number of brain cells in the “rationale” part of Rukia’s brain, since when she regained consciousnes, she went as berserk as the constraints on her gigai would allow her to. She not only managed to trash the hollow using only punches and flying kicks using the knee and tip of her foot, but almost killed Ichigo when she threw it at full force in his direction. The impact sent both hollow and Ichigo flying straight into a sewage pipe. They punctured a hole right through the metal, and out sprouted waste water from who knows how many households in Karakura town like a fountain.
Now, not only did he have to suffer the stink on him from the abominable pungent faeces, but to pay him back for dropping her, Rukia got an overjoyed Byakuya to convince the higher ups to make him repair the sewage pipes.
It seemed that a certain someone forgot to mention to the substitute shinigami that damages done in the real world had to be repaired by someone, normally by the 4th division, but if short on manpower, the responsible shinigami had to clear up the mess himself.
For someone who only knows how to cause damage, Rukia knew full well this was way beyond his miracle-like capabilities, but nevertheless reveled at the sight of outraged and desperate red strawberry picking up wooden planks and trying to nail them together to cover the holes.
Of course, she does know the limits of tormenting someone, even if its Ichigo, so she’d probably get 4th division to come down and cover for him. Though it'll be later. Much later.
