It seems to me that the ease of Christianity's spread throughtout history has been because of its ease to believe in it. It seems to me that not a whole lot of research and reading is necessary to believe in Christian teachings. Also, think back to the first 10 or so centuries and how easy it must have been to convert non-believers. They were told that they could be forgiven of their sins if they believed. And if they didnt they would have a lot of Fear instilled in them. I think fear has been the biggest factor in Christianity. Its so easy to scare/bully someone into doing something. Dont get me wrong here, Christianity has done wonders for millions of people. I just cant believe in something that is so fear based and intolerant and that doesnt value questions and deeper knowledge. I find that this fear and intolerance has had such a major influence in our society today. So little can be said to make people believe. It sounds cliche, but look at the whole Iraq thing. Bush said very little but what he did say were claims that were fear based and said at the right time. In America we're easily amused and can be lead on so easily and i think that this is because of our Christian majority background. Other religions arent perfect either. I acknowledge that there are some dark pasts in Judaism...as for Islam, what i know about it (not a whole lot) just baffles me.
