dinner party success!
so last night i had 2 dear friends, becky and her partner julia, over to the house for a little bit of a dinner party. it was a sucess, well, at least the food was quite good and a good time was had by all. besides making a bit of a mess and having a close call with ruining the pork, it really was very good. melinda and porter were fantastic in helping me out when i was overburndened by cooking. we started off with some tasty bread with olive oil dipping sauce and baked brie (brie covered with rasberry jam and wrapped in pastry dough with maple syrup and brown sugar sprinkled on top) with crackers and apples paired with a great bottle of shiraz. dinner consisted of herb roasted pork loin (which turned out rather well despite the fact that the recipe called for three hours of cooking and it only really needed an hour and a half), mashed sweet potatoes (which could have used some more sweetness, but still tasty), and southern style green beans with more wine. desert consisted of some chocolates and chardonnay. it was alot of fun and only mildly stressful. :-p
i've become hooked on online spades again. i used to play alot in undergrad, but lost interest when i wasn't very good at it. well, i have since learned the real strategies involved and have been playing on pogo with becky. played two games last night after the dinner party and we won one and lost one. i don't even remember finishing the last one i was so tired. maybe why we lost. she'll probably give me an ear full about that one later on! oops! :-p
almost done with my chapter that i have to turn in tomorrow to my advisor. maybe another two or three pages left to go. i also have a meeting at 5. i'm the database administrator on a local state representative campaign. the meeting is for the volunteer committee. i need to check through my emails and make sure i haven't missed doing anything! :-p
i'll probably be back up here at school after the meeting finishing up my chapter. yuck. oh well.
