TM Topic 244 - Happy Ending

Aug 17, 2008 14:34

OOC note: This is slightly meta and based entirely on canon.

It all began with that one girl. It began with Tohru. My friend who lost her father at a young age to pneumonia and a mother to a car accident. She was alone and no happy ending was in sight. It was because she was alone that she met the Sohma family. A family steeped with tradition and responsibility that they could not hope for a happy ending for themselves.

With that faithful meeting, their lives changed. That change caused a ripple effect that change everything for us. If Tohru never met the Sohmas, then the family could not have learn to accept outsiders. Since they did meet, my brother and I got to meet the Sohmas too. It was due to Yuki and the others, allowing themselves to be near outsiders, that gave us the chance to be friends.

Everything that happened in my life prior to meeting the Sohma is quite dreadful to be perfectly honest. I wasn’t needed by the family and my father basically abandoned me when my younger brother was born. Through a misunderstanding, I was kicked out of the main house and went to live on my own while attending high school. I wasn’t expecting a happy ending either.

What I never really considered was that I would fall in love and be loved in return. I am a broken doll in a family that threw me away. Why would anyone love me? Yuki response to that: “I love you not because you have your life figured out. You are as lost in this life as I am. I have always depended on others to help me. I want to help someone back. Let us find our happiness together.”

Those words made me do something I swore I would never do… I smiled from the very bottom of my heart. I let someone else in when I know that I would not survive if another person shatters my heart. I did it anyways and I have something I never had before: hope.

Looking farther in the future, I can see our marriage and our children. I can see the wedding of our daughter to Kyou and Tohru’s son. I see a grandchild that is both blessed by the Rat and the Cat. Most importantly, I finally see the happy ending we all never thought we would ever see.
