That's not a baby, that's a Mr. Potato Head!

If you don't realize what a giant nerd I am by now, you will by the end of this post.

Anyhoo, a couple months later Last Tuesday I got an email from the casting lady that I worked with on the movie. She was looking for Cop/Detective types or Military types for Friday, and having to work on Friday, I ignored it.
My cousin in Tyler fwd'ed the email to me because she instantly though about me when she saw it. I still said no.

So Thursday night, I got curious to see what the show was, who was on it, etc.. And quickly got my shift covered so I could go do it!

So Friday, I drove to Dallas to play a cop (I should remind you that I am NOT a police officer, nor have I ever been in Law Enforcement, although I was in the Air Force in the early 90's.)

The show is called Lone Star, and it stars several 'fresh faces', but some people that you might know. Adrianne Palicki (Annie) from Friday Night Lights (OMG SHE'S SO HOT!), David Keith and some guy named Jon Voight.. ;)
The pilot airs on Fox on September 20, and this was for episode 2, so I assume it will be on Sept 27. (Monday) probably in the 9pm slot.

When I got there, they sorted us by what 'type' we were, and since the scene was in a Police Station, they had Uniformed cops, Detectives, criminals and visitors. I was specifically picked to be a uniformed cop and was also asked to be a stand-in for one of the principle actors. I'm a newbie to all of this (I had only done the one movie before, and it was sort of a clusterfuck..) but I went with it.

Somehow I have wardrobe dept issues everywhere I go. Imagine my NOT surprise when I finally got to the wardrobe trailer and they just gave away the last pair of pants that might even remotely fit me. I was stuck with either a 28 (I wore a 28 when I was 14 I think) or a 38. I've never worn a 38 in my life. I wear a 30-32 but can get away with a 34 if I have to. But 38? UGH.

They fixed it, sort of, but it still looked ridiculous from the back. The shirt fit fine, though. LOL

I was standing in for the police Captain, who's real name is Brent Somethingorother. He looked vaguely familiar, but I have no idea what I might have seen him in. IMDB will clear thing sup once it gets more updated with the cast.

Long story short, I was in 3 scenes, most likely all 3 will remain, and definitely the last one. (they shot 2 of the 3 without me as well as with me) If nothing else, I'm in the final scene of the episode and you can totally see my face, as I'm standing right behind the 3 principles.

Being a stand-in I also got paid more just to sit there & jet them focus and do lighting checks on me, plus I got to talk to Annie Palicki for about 20 minutes because for some reason they wanted her and not her stand in. She's very nice, heavy smoker, though.

I was also surprised to see (and recognize almost instantly) that the director is Peter Horton. (You fogies remember Thirtysomething, right? ;) )

Here's the honest truth: I knew he was a famous actor from the 80's, and that his first name was Peter, but I couldn't remember his last name, and at the time, there was no one to ask. The only thing I could put a name to that I knew this guy, who I thought he was, was in was the movie "Amazon Women on the Moon", which is HILARIOUS, btw..

Here's the trailer for the pilot:

And here are a couple of pics from the set.

"Officer Ward of the Leland, TX PD"

Me & Brent

Jimmy Wolk, Bryce Johnson and Peter Horton

Jon Voight wasn't on the set because he didn't have any scenes at that location. Annie Palicki was the "famous" one of the actors there that day, having most recently been on Friday Night Lights. Jimmy Wolk was very friendly. Everyone was, actually. Bryce didn't talk to many people other than the other 2..

In the last scene, which I am pretty sure is the final shot of the episode, it's outside the Leland Police Station at night. I am standing by the door at the top of the steps and they are standing at the bottom of the steps crossing the street. You can get a clear shot of my face, as I walk down the steps and over to my police car. I think I walk out of the frame before they cut out (or they might zoom in on the three) but you should definitely be able to tell it's me.

The other 2 scenes were shot both with and without me in them, so I'm not sure if I'll be there or not. One is where I'm walking down the hall towards the 2 guys as they are sitting on a bench. I don't know where the camera was at this point, but OMG I hope it was in front of me instead of behind me because the HUGE ASS PANTS (Literally) looked retarded from the back.

The next one was where I was both stand-in and extra, and the scene starts out, I believe, with me being the first person you see on the screen. We'll see in a couple of months, I guess!

I should also add that the script says nothing about "Officer Ward", it's just the name on the nametag that I was wearing on my uniform. I just kinda went with it. :)

And for giggles, here's the AWotM scene with Peter Horton and his ex wife.

(However, Arsenio Hall's scene was the best one, I think..)
