Come to Escapade!!
I received this message from Jennifer Holland, the wonderful organizer of Escapade, the wonderful (and original) slash con to be held in beautiful Ventura Beach, California in early March. This year has been slow in organizing, for a host of reasons (including a date change), and as a result, rather than the usual too-many-people-for-too-few-slots, we need more people to come!
It is truly a wonderful con, a great way to meet and schmooz with folks you've only talked to online, have some fabulous, substantive, meaty discussions about slash, about your fandom, about fandom in general - the whole gamut. We also party A LOT!!

And, if you’ve been wondering, airfares are cheap. Here are some sample rates from Orbitz:
ATL-LAX, $241. (!!)
Chicago-LAX, $231.
Denver-LAX, $199.
Seattle-LAX, $178.
Phoenix-LAX, $96.
Seattle-Burbank, $193.
Phoenix-Burbank, $101.
And if that’s not good enough, Southwest is offering $99 each way fares from all over the country!
Right now, the Escapade membership is about 2/3 of normal, and we’ve reached the point where more people are canceling that registering. I’m not sure if this is reflection on the date change, the economy, or (probably the most likely) my own ineptitude in keeping things updated. But it’s where we stand right now, and it’s not going to pay the hotel bill.
So, the obvious solution is to get more people to come! You still have 2 weeks advance purchase! Check out the great fares above! Invite your friends to a weekend at the beach in Ventura. They won’t regret it! I’ll be talking to the hotel tomorrow about extending our room block deadline, and will follow up with those results. __._,_.___
