*Snerks* I saw it a while ago. I have absolutely no idea whether I'll hate this movie, but I detested LOTR and am thinking I'll feel the same about Troy (I'm seeing it tomorrow), so it's always a possibility. ;) It depends on how badly they fuck it up, I suppose.

I hear ya. I suspect I shall not like it overmuch.
I loved LotR. :-)
And 'Troy' is pretty shit. Literally. Shit and pretty.

*snerks* I only hated it 'cause it fucked up my favourite book. In my opinion. XD

Sounds like a pretty baseless opinion to me. The major plot and thematic elements remained intact. No major characters gone. (For Christ's sake, Tom Bombadil is not a major character.) Acting, dialogue, music, and special effects were all solid (and in some cases, very good). Exactly how did the movies in any way tarnish Tolkien's trilogy?

Yes, the major plot and thematic elements remained intact, and no major characters were gone, but if you think that makes it a good movie, you're . . . stupid. Here we go:
Bilbo has a ring that makes you invisible: he got it from Gollum who found it in a river. He has a birthday party. He decides that he wants to leave, so gives the ring to his adopted son, Frodo: unfortunately, he finds this incredibly difficult, so his friendly wizard, Gandalf, must make him give it up. Gandalf is worried by this, so leaves. Frodo lives happily for a while. Gandalf returns and tells Frodo the ring is evil!Blah, blah ( ... )
