Variation on Creation

What divinity could survive
the madness of creation,
for it is all that I can do
to pressure words together;
gods must make a universe
with inexhaustible perfection
ephemeral though they are.
Now thoughtful enterprise
stirred by active cognition,
will engender an act of
the apparitional gods,
a fabrication of wordplay,
through the transcription
of the restless words
in my blasphemous mind.
