So I saw the movie that was made on SNL called Love is a Dream. It stars Phil Hartman and Jan Hooks, and to me it is a most beautiful film.

If you haven't seen it the movie is about an older lady who goes to a bank vault to get out some old jewelery with all of this happening in black and white. As she sits there you see two hands reach around her and proceeds to put the necklace around her neck. At this point the film switches from black and white to color and she is younger and being swept thru a ballroom by the man who put the necklace around her. As they are dancing they sing a song that just makes the whole video work. As the song winds down he leads her down a row of men with swords drawn in a salute. He stops while she takes another step forward. Slowly he fades into the black with the last notes and she turns back around to the table the film changes back into black and white and she is seated at the table once again as the older lady. She puts away the jewelry and stands up to leave. As she leaves the bank she turns around and the guard escorting her out tips his hat and we see it is Phil. He gives her a big smile which she returns as she holds as it fades to credits.

I really love the song they play for the whole video. Here are the lyrics for it...

Life is a dream, yet it's so real
Hard to explain, just how you feel
Deep in your heart, joy seems to dwell
Like poets say, it's perfectly swell

In every step, of this old dance
There is delight, love and romance
If you are the one, give me the few
And I am sure there's no one like you

You are all I dream
You are a part of my heart and esteem
And since I've met you
Now I know that dreams do come true

Love is a dream, yet it's so real
Hard to explain, just how you feel
Deep in your heart, joy seems to dwell
Like poets say, it's perfectly swell
