So, yes, I'll probably be taking a pay cut. Or going on strike and then taking a pay cut. As it happens, I don't think the cut will hurt me too badly, but I'm in a pretty ok place financially. Not having a family to support leaves me with enough disposable income that I can survive ok. I know quite a few people who aren't quite so lucky...

The only thing that annoys me about the whole mess is the way it has been dealt with in the media (by everyone involved, for or against). Heres a tip: if you want to learn anything about the state of the Irish economy or the impact of government policy (past, present and future), don't bother looking in a newspaper. Or watching the news. Or listening to the talking heads on the radio. The amount of absolute garbage being spouted on all sides at the moment is comical and I'm sure is providing ample fodder for Media Studies papers across the globe. Every article, report or opinion piece I've come across lately has been the product of an idiot spouting nonsense or else someone with an agenda trying to get a little airtime.

Sorry, rant over.

In more interesting news, White Wolf are preparing to launch a new Vampire setting - the eighties!!! That's right, big hair, big shoulderpads, leg warmers and more big hair!!! Oh the horror! Guess it'll be added to my giant pile of games-I-want-to-run (which also includes Requiem for Rome, the Vampire game set in Rome just before the fall of the Empire). Here's the cover:
