LiveJournal tells me I haven't posted since August of 2009, damn.
Well here's a quick synopsis of my life.
After working 3 years at GameStop, I was fired. Not really sure why. I would love to know why, really know why, not just the half assed reason I got. 3 years of flawless service, no write ups, no complaints, no problems. I had a great staff, excellent customer base, and tons of loyal customers, that would only drive to my store, even if it meant driving an extra 30min.
My boss came in (granted this was in July) and told me that an employee made a complaint about me. That I wasn't helping customers. Really? Customers are my whole life. Well he told me that he had some video of me not helping customers, and when i asked to see the tape, it had already been sent to corporate. I couldn't see it.
I figured, okay, maybe this happened, but there were steps in place, if there was an issue, i would receive a coaching; a write up, if you will. But he said, i wouldn't be receiving a coaching, I was to be terminated for something called, (get this) "Customer Disassociation." In my 3 years at GameStop, I had never heard this term, pretty much because it was made up.
These coachings are in place to ward employees away from bad behavior. If an employee is messing up with the register, i would give them a coaching and in 30 days we would readdress the issue. If it was still a problem, then a write up would be issued. In fact my store and others had employees fudging the numbers and were thought to be stealing, but i wasn't allowed to fire them, I had to give them a coaching.
Where was my coaching? Was all my training for 3 years for nothing? Retaining talent they always say? Baloney.
Well my boss goes on to say that he feels my pain and he's gonna look into my termination, and plead with the district to get me reinstated. Bullshit. To this day, almost 6 months later, he has yet to call me back.
In the months since, I have taken a couple steps, which all led to nothing. I talked with the HR district manager, who agreed with the action. Though he tried to dismiss my calls, I chatted with the Corporate HR and then the HR district manager finally called me back. When I chatted with him he said he would call me back within a couple days, which meant that hopefully I would forget about it, and after chatting with HR, he called me back, 1 month later.
I then chatted with a guy from a department that does an internal review to find out more info. Guess what? He found nothing, and just agreed with others before him. Lame. There was one other step, which would have cost me $100 for an arbitration, but i gave up. 3 out of 4 chances had been lost, there was no way i was gonna get my job back. Hell a friend of mine is an employment lawyer, and it did cross my mind to take them to court, but he couldn't help me because he firm represented GameStop in the past.
So after all this, I was also rejected from Unemployment, for somehow mailing the return letter back to myself, instead of to the EDD. And then missing the phone call, I couldn't miss. 1 letter i received said that i was ineligible because i was terminated for not performing my job correctly. I reapplied, but heard nothing back.
I just want to know why I was terminated. I have chatted with friends still in the company and they say i was ousted just because the DM wanted ti have his people in manager spots, rather than managers who had been there for 3 years. All I know is, is that I am bitter, and i will continue to be for an unmeasurable amount of time. I am fucking pissed off. There is a fire of bitterness that will not go away.
My friends tell me to get over it and move on, but i can't. I'm trying so hard, but with the additional missing info, in my just not knowing why, has left me empty.
If you want to know more, or want to discuss this, I'm all ears, and possibly talking more will calm my nerves...
