Under the deal, nearly everyone earning a paycheck would receive at least $300 from the Internal Revenue Service. Most workers would receive rebates of $600 each, or $1,200 per couple. Families with children would receive an additional payment of $300 per child. Workers who earned at least $3,000 last year -- but not enough to pay income taxes -- would be eligible for $300.
Didn't this fail the last time they did it? Doesn't this reek of Mr. Reagan's bullshit "trickle down" voodoo economics?
How fucking deep in debt are we again? Over 9 TRILLION these days? That might as be eleventy bazillion, as big as it is... it's fucking insane. The economy is on a the fast track into the shitter, we're fighting wars in two different countries and poking a stick at a third with big big friends, and Americans are in deeper personal debt than ever... you think a few hundred dollars is magically fix everything? Do these idiots think that people going out buying shit is going to fix all these problems??
All this is going to do is delay the inevitable... preferably once the retard(s) in office responsible for this are out, so it explodes and becomes the next guy's mess to deal with. Way to go assholes. This comment I read sums it up better than me:

Ya know what might actually be, I dunno, useful? How about we take this money and put it into some infrastructure rejuvenation projects... like something out of the New Deal. Fix some roads, some bridges... some levies maybe? Put some people to work doing something useful that will have some benefit... make folks earn it instead of just throwing them some money and expecting them to do something intelligent with it.
We keep digging ourselves in deeper because, in general, this country has yet to feel any serious side effects to the wars and gluttony we've indulged in... once it hits home the wake up call will more than likely be deafening and brutal.
