i saw the most awesome show tonight! i was at disney hall (downtown LA) and i saw the best bassist living on this planet: EDGAR MEYER!!! he played with mandolinist Chris Theile (also a cool guy)
there is no question about meyer's greatness, folks. every generation or so, there is one bassist who is unofficially dubbed "the bass virtuoso" and for the past decade, it's been Edgar Meyer. Most amazing show this year! (though that's not saying much)
ah yes, it's been a good month for Los Angeles bassists. For me, I became first chair. For Will, he released his CD and is happy to not be first chair. And for all who attended the performance of bass master Edgar Meyer, we got to see him kick ass! Rock on, bassists of the world! Rock on.
