I'm tired & want spring break - I'll probably go to Burlington for a few days, and I'm hoping to see Railey Jane as well. I'm going home this weekend to see my brother in "Music Man," and check out some apartments with Jenn - she's moving back to Saratoga... thank GOD. Six hours is unpleasant travel time when you just want to hug your girlfriend.
I can't wait for symposium!!! It's going to be wonderful. I'm also setting up a stop at Wells for the Women Confronting Globalization tour that the Mexico Solidarity Network is doing. The tour presents different women activists from communities in Chiapas who speak out about their collective strategies of resistance and discuss the impacts of globalization on women in Mexico. They also talk about the leadership roles that women play in the movement for fair trade and social and economic justice. My first attempt at setting up something like this on campus, so I'm excited. It's going well so far, have raised about $500 for an honorarium and McClusky told me that we might be able to get up to $600 or $650. Looks like they'll be here on the 13th.
I've also been trying to plan out how I will spend the rest of my time at Wells. I'm definitely going to Hawaii next J-term with Olson & friends and will be spending a semester abroad (probably next spring) with the school for field studies. The decision will be between Australia, Kenya and Costa Rica. So yeah I've been feeling pretty good about coming back, I really think it was the right decision. And guess what, I'm being academic this semester and getting my shit done!! It's nice. Gigs is also going really well which is awesome, and I'm super glad that we've decided to have the final concert the week BEFORE the last week of classes so there are no mental breakdowns or suicide attempts.
So that's pretty much what I've been thinking about/doing lately... lots of school stuff and plans for the future... I miss so many Wells girls like you would not believe, obviously it's just not the same without you. Come visit, please? I love you!
