Short Story

A while ago we had a task in FCE class to write a short story (120 - 180 words) and choose one of the following prompts:

A) I wanted to do my best; I didn't want to lose now, finally it was my time to play.

and

B) When their car broke down, they decided to go ask for help at the farmhouse.

I choose the first one and wrote the story about 10 minutes before I had to leave for class. Don't know why but I wrote a full blown vampire story. No vegetarian or sparkling vampires. xD But I did imagine Rob as my lead character.

My teacher liked it a lot, but said it was creepy and that I should also write a positive one. And I also had only 2-3 grammar mistakes and missed only one comma. YEY!

So anyway's here's the story:
I wanted to do my best; I didn’t want to lose now, finally it was my time to play. As the hunt dragged on, I redoubled my speed. Soon all the others were far behind. Our targeted village was growing near. I could sense their blood tingling my sense of smell.

This was all a game to us. The one who hunted down, killed and drained most of these pitiful humans, was the winner.

As soon as I entered I felt one near me. He - or maybe she - didn’t even see me coming. In a matter of seconds it was dead. Many more would suffer its faith as the night wore on.

I was at the top of my game, nothing could hurt me tonight. Or so I thought.

It appeared that another, stronger and bigger clan had decided to hunt in the same village tonight. Usually one of the clans would back down and find another hunting territory; but not tonight.

They ran us to the ground and just before my opponent sank his teeth into my flesh the saddest thought crossed my mind. I had never felt love.
