Rant! -edited-

Ok, this is a minor rant. Stop reading now if you don't want to hear it.

Lately I've been seeing these really bad commericals on the telly about giving up your children within the first seven days from birth, by leaving them at hospital or a police station. No Questions asked, no repercussions.

I find something so incredibly wrong with that! Ok, first late me say, I'm all for this policy, I think it is a step in the right direction, but it is only a half-step there. The right-to-lifers, must be having a hay-day with this one. Taken to the Nth degree and we are saying "Sure have as many babies as you wish, don't get an abortion, just go thru birth at a hospital and leave." I think questions must be asked of the birth mother, are you aware of your actions? Do you understand birth-control? Are you comfortable with this choice? Can we direct you to a counselor? No punishable consequences is fine, but at least make sure they are right in the head. Because what it is saying to me is "It is ok."

And I fully agree with the comments being made here....what is the history of the Mother? Is this a "crack-baby"? But I think it is more then that. It is also the society saying that protection isn't nessasary because we will take care of your mistakes. I guess in all it is the fact that their isn't accountability for ones actions.

Without consequence people will repeat their problems over and over. This program doesn't allow for educating and learning. But we live in Bush's America, where no one has sex unless they are married. Their is no other religion then a catholic based belief, where no child is left behind but the most qualified people to teach these children aren't allowed to, where creationism isn't another theory (unlike the heretical Darwin) it must be solid fact, where we go to war under false pretenses, where we can't find the actual person responsible, where we won't think about the fact that others have "The Bomb," where the government doesn't listen to the people any longer.

The other commercial for the same "drop off your baby" ad is a group of hip-hop kids rapping and horrible rhyming verse about what to do and where to drop off the unwanted problem. Saying to the general watcher that it is mostly people who listen to rap and hip-hop that will end up being pregnant and need help. And that singing this song will make everything go away.

Some days I hate this world.
