Does anyone remember The Opera? The mod for Half-Life which we all used to play at lans?
I found a good online MMO-ish game that's very much the same.

Trenchcoats, guns of all sorts, physics defying techniques, and SWORDS (also knives).
Persistant characters-- you build 'em up and make them the way you want, then face other people.
Might be a good substitue.
Four servers, usually pretty full of people, just hold down the enter key (I suggest server 3 or 4) until it logs you in. (4k players/server, someone's gonna log out or get disconnected).
I play random times each day, evening and mornings, some afternoons. Name: Jakham.
