I'm in Japan!
So if you had questions, that explains it.
(Even math quetions.)
Japan has been pretty cool so far, and it should be much better once I get into the rythm of my classes.
And it's only one class a day! Lots of time for adventure..!
Schedual is like this:
Monday | Tuesday | Wednsday | Thursday | Friday
AM Class AM Class PM Class PM Class PM Class
AM classes run from 9:00 to 12:30.
PM classes run from 13:30 to 17:00.
The 24hour system just seems to make a little more sense to me.. but it seems that about half the people (and signs, papers, dates, ect) use one system, the other half the other system.
Life is just a little more confusing from that.
I've been keeping a more detailed 'Blogg' at
http://muspellheim.com/bloggar/, but it doesn't have all the details or my thoughts that I deem little appropriate for family.
It's been a bit annoying that my dad is still hanging around, since I want to get a real taste of being set loose, but the up of that is that he's been paying for meals and bus passes.
He'll be giving me a monthly stipend to pay for my expenses, but that 'has yet to be determined.'
I don't feel like spending my own cash on such things just yet.
I just got my room set up with a couple newer, more useful peices of furnature (see: chair that doesn't squeek) and now I lack a place to throw all the shitty wrappings out. Figures.
I keep forgetting to ask 'okaasan' (grandmother?) for the remote to the AC in my room, which shouldn't be a problem soon since it's finally cooling down.
Thank god I didn't come here in the summer; I don't like that much heat.
I've picked up a few bits of flair, and one or two japanese manga, to translate in my spare time. (Practice! Whee!)
If I'm lucky, one of the guys on my floor, with a larger room will be moving out in december. It's about twice the size.
Guess there's a sort-of social heirarchy here in some ways.. but everyone seems to be going out of their way to make me feel welcome, which is great.
Lots of new friends, yeee!
It's kinda fun to be a day ahead of everyone else, most of the time.. but the hour difference makes it hard to chat real-time with my friends. (Well, some. There are those that are up too late for any mental good.. )
TV here in Japan is the suck.
Just imagine all those terrible shows that the stations use to fill in the time between their two-star movies. Then, rape the scripts.
Yeah.
Example: Everyone gets their own pixelation on the 'cops' show. Orange, round thing that looks like a Photoshop 3.0 rip-off, giant pixelly blocks from the 60's..
And it seems to be based on the 'cops' pretending to beat people up.
Past that, they have so many games for playstation. SO MANY.
I checked out one store, which had a really small game section.. at least 50 titles I had never seen or heard of before.
